How We Met
Keaton- "Sooo I was walking back from getting my textbooks at the
start of spring semester and saw this super pretty girl walking
towards the same intersection a ways ahead of me. I was kinda hoping
she would slow down so maybe I could have a chance to talk to her when
the light turned red and I got the chance to catch up. When I got to
the crosswalk I was thinking of what I could even say to her. Then out
of no where the wind blew the hat off my head and I managed to catch
it right before it flew into her face!
...
A conversation was sparked- the light went green and we crossed the
street together. I asked if she played volleyball and said if she
wanted to join me and some buddies, we were playing later- and she
should give me her number. Digits were aquired and we parted ways."
Kaylee- "First thing I remember is walking up to the red-light and
waiting to cross to get to my apartment.
This guy walked up next to me and was waiting as well. The trick is
that this intersection is a wind tunnel with all the tall buildings
on each side, so I was sitting there trying to keep my nicely
straightened hair from flying everywhere. Out of nowhere, this guys
hat flys off and he catches it right in from of me! He brings up how
windy it is and I agree with him. Later he asked me if I liked to
play volleyball to which I replied, “Yeah I love volleyball!” This
led to a brief conversation and he asked for my number after we
crossed the intersection. I then went home, told my roommate what
happened and thus the Keaton crush began."
Keaton- "We ended up playing pickle ball with some friends- it went
good! I remember two things, Kaylee was kinda shy at first, but she
became very interested when I had mentioned I grew up in a small
town and had raised pigs as part of saving money for my mission.
After that she became very talkative and we talked about her
interests and how she grew up. I think it was a success....”
Kaylee- "When Keaton asked me to play pickleball and bring a friend
I was pretty excited. It gave us a chance to really get to know each
other and my jaw totally dropped when he told me that he raised pigs
to pay for his mission. I was all ears after that. After our
pickleball encounter he went out of town, but I invited him to come
country dancing with me when he got back. He came just for me and
even learned some moves from his roommate to impress. It worked."
Our Plans
After we get married, we’re headed back up to Rexburg, Idaho to finish
our degrees. Kaylee will be done with her Animal Science degree this
December and her Communications degree next March. Keaton will finish
his Software Engineering Degree by December 2025.
We’ll be living in a cute 2-bedroom apartment 5 minutes away from
campus and will be working part-time jobs as well as attending school,
hosting friends, and playing as much pickleball as possible. Once we
graduate, we look forward to moving where Keaton’s job takes us,
hopefully somewhere with a little less snow and space to experience
new things!
